The Fédération de l'Aide et des Soins à Domicile (FASD) is officially supporting the petition launched by the ASBL Aidants Proches, denouncing the profoundly unfair situation experienced by parents of children with disabilities.
These parents are just the tip of the iceberg. Every day, the workers at Aide & Soins à Domicile work alongside, support and provide relief to close carers in all its forms: parents, spouses, brothers, sisters, grandparents who give selflessly of their time, energy and sometimes even their health to support a loved one who can no longer cope alone.

Beyond status: guaranteeing the right to work and building a sustainable support system
It is essential to remember that, for these families, not working (or working less) is not a choice. For family carers, maintaining a professional activity is vital: it provides a social link, a sense of personal worth, a fragile but essential balance that keeps them on their feet in the face of adversity. Beyond the urgent need to maintain the right to unemployment benefit, we need to go further! While the savings envisaged in the Walloon Region could focus on the accessibility and quality of home services, the situation described above highlights the need, on the contrary, to strengthen them and make them more accessible to all.
Let's stop the bleeding now.
We urgently need to open our eyes to the daily lives of over a million carers in Belgium. We refuse to let them lose both their rights and their support.
